    This of tremendous historical importance. Sadly, the American perspective still survives that the US pretty much won the war by itself, i.e. Normandy invasion, which is constantly referred to as win-or-lose for WWII. Of course not so. The USSR would have won, all by itself, but Europe would have been very different indeed.

    Basically, I think we have to recognize and remember the tremendous effort of Russia, while also respecting the German soldiers, most of whom were devoted to their units and fought with bravery and dedication. Most of all we should remember the stupidity and waste of war, and condemn the ruling fools who make it.
